Proposed Refugee Admissions for Fiscal Year 2021
Proposed Refugee Admissions for Fiscal Year 2021 announced.
Each year, the sitting President releases the Presidential Determination to Congress on the number of refugees to admit to the United States during the next fiscal year.
The UNHCR reported 79.5 Million people displaced worldwide at the end of 2019. For the 2021 Fiscal Year, the Refugee admittance number is capped at 15,000.
Refugees have been resettled in Utica for over 40+ years, The Center has helped welcome 16,500+ new neighbors. The 2021 Presidential Determination of 15,000 Refugees admitted to the United States is devastating to our community. The Center reunites hundreds of families each year, this low number will limit our work - we will continue to support the families and clients in our community.
