The Center Attends Albany Rally for State Legislation on Refugee Resettlement
The Center attends Albany Rally for State Legislation on Refugee Resettlement
On March 27th The Center attended the Albany Rally for State Legislation on Refugee Resettlement. Our team was represented by Kathy DeLacy (Associate Director of Resettlement), Mahdi Jawad (Afghan PC Case Worker), Bazhena Baggetta (PC UHP Gap Services) and Maribel Morales (Program Coordinator Community Navigator Program). The rally was held in support of a bill before the New York State Senate Committee - Investigations And Government Operations - S.6070A.69. The legislation codifies New York State’s commitment to USRAP, introduced by NYS Senator Andrew Gounardes and Assembly Member Nader Sayegh.
In meetings with legislators, The Center team shared personal stories about their own resettlement journeys' and provided informational background about the importance of supporting refugee resettlement in New York. We encouraged the legislators to support S.6070A.69 and advocate for a floor vote on the bill.
Special thanks to:
